South London-bred grime artist Nolay has come up against her fair share of challenges since releasing her first single in 2005. The most recent being a serious car accident that briefly left her in a touch-and-go state. Now that she’s on the mend, Nolay is preparing for the drop of her forthcoming EP, Grime Guts Glory, releasing June 10. Stateside, grime has flitted in and out of the consciousness of music consumers for years. But in recent times the genre has gained a real, potentially lasting foothold. Pioneering artists like Skepta, whose fourth studio album Konnichiwa released to global interest, are part of a wave of UK rappers who seem poised to permanently break into American hip-hop. Nolay first gained notoriety through her part in the grime collective Unorthodox where she appeared on the single “No Help or Handouts”. The song went on to be featured on a UK grime compilation released through Warner Bros imprint 679 Recordings. Though Nolay was early into her career at the time, the single was featured alongside tracks from Dizzee Rascal, Wiley and a slew of other grime artists who went on to establish themselves as originators of the movement. Seven mixtapes and three EPs later, Nolay unveils the visuals for her latest single, “Gotta Love It”. Set in London, the video intersperses anime-style clips with portrayals of the rapper wandering the streets of her home city while spitting verses peppered liberally with cockney rhyming slang. For those of us who aren’t Brits, Nolay provided definitions of some of her favorite phrases… Line: “Wind your neck in” Meaning: This is literally telling someone to move their neck back so their face is not in your space during an exchange. Line: “Got some sweeties for the punters” Meaning: Sweeties is slang for pills and punters is slang for customers. Line: “Come on treacle drop me out please” Meaning: Treacle tart means sweetheart in cockney slang and “Nike Air Vapormax Flynit OG 849558 006 drop me out” is an exclamation that refers to something unbelievable or incorrect. It’s usually used when someone is asking to be left out of situation they want no part in. Line:“Then I roll off on my Jack Jones, Pat Malone, Todd Sloane” Meaning: Jack Jones, Pat Malone, Tod Sloane are all phrases that mean being alone or on your own Line: You’re brown bread in other words dead Meaning: Brown bread is rhyming slang for dead Line: “Rolling Bob Hope” Meaning: Bob Hope is rhyming slang for dope. Australian photographer Tom Blachford has shot an array of interiors and architectural photographs. In his latest project, he expands on his current repertoire with scenic moonlit shots of iconic mid-century homes. Previously, Blachford captured several of these landmarks covertly; this time, he was granted full access to the properties through the President of the Palm Springs Modern Committee, Chris Menrad, who also happens to be the owner of the Menrad Residence. The Menrad home was built by the Alexander Construction Company — a leader in mid-century 1950s and ’60s homes. Since it is among the homes Blachford captures, he took advantage of his newly-found photographical freedom by playing with interior lighting and posing era-appropriate cars in the driveway. The series also features a restored Kaufmann house, designed by Richard Neutra in 1946. Bathed in moonlight, its outdoor pool takes on new life and creates parallels of photographs taken by both Julius Shulman and Slim Aarons.Women's Nike VaporMax Foot Locker Menard shares that “seeing Palm Springs and our signature mid-century modern architecture shown in a totally new way,” was what drew him to Blachford’s concept. You can see the complete series at “The Midnight Modern Exhibition” in Palm Springs on February 20. Tickets are purchasable on Modernism Week. The event location will be provided after your tickets have been purchased. Read Full Article

The creators of The Simpsons never fail to disappoint with their extended couch gag introductions. This time around they’Nike Vapormax Lunar UK ve chosen to parody the Peter Jackson-directed prequel to The Lord of the Rings. The gag presents some of our favorite places and people in the guise of those from The Hobbit, including old Moe as Gollum, Barney, Lenny and Karl as trolls, and the Springfield version of J.R.R. Tolkien’s map of Middle Earth. It’s only appropriate that the unexpected journey is one of the longest couch gags ever. You can see the intro go live on November 3 for the “4 Regrettings and a Funeral” episode. In the meantime, check out the last extended couch gag, directed by Guillermo del Toro, here.
